Headstones Pt 10

The green light was given and all the paperwork was finally complete. Kimende smiled as he perused the documents that Samy had delivered earlier. They were for his casinos which were now registered and according to Samy the slot machines and gaming tables would arrive next week. With a satisfied smirk Kimende reluctantly set the documents safely in the safe.
He picked up the other documents on his desk which were the completed feasibility studies for his new enterprise. As well as all the necessary paperwork for the funeral home. Things were well on track with all the pieces falling into place. Ngoma had not failed him and he was now on the way to legitimizing his businesses.
The transport business was off to a good start and the people of Matuu were so happy with the wells that his company dug for them that they sung his praises to all and sundry. Their first clients included a mistress to a local politician who had overdosed according to the medical report even though in reality she had been taken care off after she proved herself to be a liability. He was more than willing to pay for hefty price for a burial out of the way in order to escape any questions.
After that with Samy's ingenious way they used the formula to be on the spot when death came to claim its prize. Soon the men were grinning from ear to ear as the money rolled in.
The town prospered and things seemed to have settled into a routine. Business was booming and the men were happy. But as always happens the calm precedes the storm. Ngoma was in a pub having a drink before heading home and as the alcohol flowed so did his tongue. He started bragging about his deal. Usually the clientele paid him no heed as it was his local joint and they knew about his habit of exaggerating but unfortunately there was a guy who seemed rather interested in his tale.
Beya had been sitting quietly in a corner of the pub nursing his tusker and no one paid him any heed. He was an an assuming man that guys wouldn't take a second look at and that was a gift he had cultivated over the years. He was a proverbial chameleon. Most times people hardly noticed him which made his job easier as a sleuth for the special branch.
On this night he was working on a very interesting case and he had come into this particular bar to seek information. All he had were conjecture and lots of rumors but it was enough to alarm his bosses so he had been sent into the field to gather more conclusive evidence. Ngoma's bragging was the first piece of real evidence he had found after three weeks of canvassing. Unfortunately he left without giving away any clues. Signaling to the waitress for another tusker he gave her a large tip and made some small talk. She seemed happy enough to indulge him but when he broached the subject of ngoma she clammed up. This only served to prove that there was something going on. So thinking to discover something more to go on he changed the subject and left a few hours later. He continued this for a few days always getting another piece of the puzzle even though she did not volunteer much.
Kimende was soon told about the famous night and Ngoma's indiscretion not to mention the man who seemed very interested in finding out about him.
sending forth one of his men he found out that the man who was asking all the questions had left town and no one was sure when he did or where he disappeared to.Kimende thought long and hard about it and decided to see for himself whether ngoma was liable to be a liability when drunk. He arrived at Ngoma's favorite bar and took a seat in a hidden alcove and waited to see for himself Ngoma's behaviour while drunk. It didn't take long for him to show up and start drinking. The more he drunk the more he talked and the worst part was that it did not take Ngoma too many drinks for him to start spilling his guts.
Having seen enough he left the bar and called Samy. "Take care of him and make sure there are no remains ever left.
